TONIGHT!! IT'S FINALLY HERE!! This is what I've been working on as a designer since September of last year and I can't wait to hear what the internet thinks of it! I'm so proud of this awesome team, they've been working their butts off non-stop since the get-go and it really shows in the final product. I'm crazy thrilled to be a part of it!!

A B-horror movie spoof poster I made to promote it on my other blog, heheh.

My roommate and I are huge video game fans, especially when those video games involve adorable creatures, pretty scenery, and above all, FOOD, so Ni No Kuni was kind of perfect for us.

I could spend all day feeding our team's monsters, haha.

Warm-Up Doodle

Ferris Bueller's Day Off will be the end of me. (I also can't figure out why some of my posted pictures are blurry in the post but clear when you click through on them? Maybe I need to make all my images 300 dpi.)

Imagineering Imaginations Contest!!

In the late half of last year, I met three crazy talented people from other majors at my school, and we all were interested in competing in Walt Disney Imagineering's Imaginations contest, which was to design and develop a concept for an attraction to pitch to the company (based on a prompt they gave us). Long story short, I got to do a bunch of boarding and animatic-making, character designs, and concept sketches, and we all pitched in to create a presentation and were selected as one of the six finalist teams to stay a week at Disney Imagineering and pitch our ideas to the Imagineering executives! We recently just finished the contest and placed second in the final judging.

Unfortunately, even though I got word that someone was interested in having me stay for an internship opportunity this coming summer, I had to be considered ineligible since I already made the choice to take a leave of absence from school so I could take a full time job at a studio for a year (not that I didn't want to go to the studio, but just wish I had a clone of myself so I could do both!) Ah well, working right across the street from the Imagineering campus is a pretty good consolation.

If you wanna check out a little bit of what our project was about, check out this link!

A Toast to the New Year

Or several.

Life Drawing - Wonderland

Life drawing - our model picked an alice in wonderland theme and I tried taking a more graphic approach to it.

Life Drawings - Dancers

My favorite session!

Film Teaser

A faux film still of the film that I was developing for the first half of this school year--I wanted to dive into something more personal this year, and I ended up starting a film about family relationships. I also wanted to experiment with a different style this time--I'm a fan of mid-century modern art and commercial designs (I really enjoy the UPA cartoon style, as well as designs from artists like Tom Oreb and Al Hirschfeld), and I especially wanted to draw on that for inspiration when designing my backgrounds and characters (though, whenever I begin to sketch them, I can feel myself trying to slip back into the way of drawing I'm more comfortable with) Got a long way to go!

Layout Class Work

Some of my assignments for Dan Hansen's layout classsss!
